I have practiced for a 4 years at a local zen group and sat for several week long and weekend sesshins

About 18 sesshin elsewhere and regular sitting practice. Including with Chozen Bays, Jogen Salzberg, Soten Lynch, Shinei Monial,

Episodic Sciatica. Mild to moderate Sleep Apnea for years, controlled by a quiet, but not totally silent, CPAP machine which I have brought to previous Tahoma sesshins.

I began practicing at the Kansas Zen Center in Lawrence, Ks., an affliate of the Kwan Um School of Zen, in 1995. I have taken the 5, 10, and 16 precepts and the Bodhisattva precepts in our school. I began studying with Zen Master Ji Haeng in 2012 and was given inka (authority to teach) in December of 2020. I have a daily practice and practice with the sangha here three times a week. I have sat numerous weekend retreats, 5 and 7 day retreats, and one 100 day retreat at the Diamond Hill Monastery in Providence RI.

No allergies to food

Hip injury and some lumbar spine stenosis that has caused some lack of mobility especially on the right side. Knee surgeries have left me less flexible. If there are extra cushions/bolsters for my knees, I am able to sit fairly well. At this time, I cannot sit seiza.

Practicing in the Kwan Um Zen School tradition since 1982, helped found and served as abbot of Kansas Zen Center and later of Providence Zen Center, received Inka from Zen Master Seung Sahn in April 2000 and Zen Master Bon Hae in December 2020.

Lay-practitioner. Daily seated meditation >15 minutes for 3-4 days a week for past 4 years. I can sit steadily for 3–40 minutes, longer with brief posture adjustments. I try to have a few >1 hour meditations a month.
Self-directed over 4 years with guidance from texts and recorded talks; no regular group in-person nor online.
I intend to complete a weekend or day retreat in Dec/Jan before Ōsesshin (will confirm when booked).
No medical or psychological limitations affecting intensive practice.

Practicing in Rinzai zen in the style of Joshu Sasaki since 2017. Retreats at Mt. Baldy (not sesshin), Haku-un-ji, Boulder Zen Center. Sesshin at Korinji, at the Rocky Mountain Ecodharma Center, and with Boundless in Motion in Boulder. Host a weekly practice gathering at my home in Grand Junction. Jukai with Hogaku Seido Larry Clark in April of 2019. Seido sadly passed away in June this year.
