One Day Zen Retreat (Kosesshin) with Zen Priest Daichi Zenni.

Monday May 28 (Memorial Day) Water Moon Dojo, 4232 6th Ave NW. Seattle. 10 am – 9 pm.

10 am orientation, zazen, 12 noon lunch, 2 pm zazen, 4 pm light supper, break, 5:30 sanzen instruction (sanzen is one on one teacher instruction) and zazen, 6:30 sanzen with Daichi Zenni, 8:15 tea and chanting.

Daichi Zenni will be here in December for Rohatsu.

Rohatsu commemorates the December days Shakyamuni Butsu (Buddha) sat under the Bodhi tree and awakened fully.

September Training Period Application and Dates

TRAINING PERIOD AT TAHOMA ONE DROP ZEN MONASTERY
SEPTEMBER 2016


This September the following sesshin will be held at Tahoma. The two ko-sesshin may be attended in-part. The Osesshin must be attended in its entirety.  You are welcome to spend the entire month at Tahoma.

SEPT 5-9: KOSESSHIN, 4 full days, with Shodo Harada Roshi.

Begins late afternoon on Sept. 5th, through to the end of day (approx. 9:30pm) on Sept. 9th.

SEPT 11TH: DHARMA LECTURE at 1-3pm by Shodo Harada Roshi. This lecture is open to the public and all Osesshin attendees are encouraged to arrive early enough to attend.

SEPT 11-18: OSESSHIN 7 full days, with Shodo Harada Roshi.
Begins late afternoon on Sept. 11th, through to the end of day (approx. 9:30pm) on Sept. 18th.

SEPT 19: Shodo Harada Roshi departs for Japan.

SEPT 20-27: KOSESSHIN, 7 full days with Daichi Roshi.  2 WITH Begins late afternoon on Sept. 20th., through to the end of day (approx. 9:30pm) on Sept.27th.

Sesshin

Tahoma Zen monastery holds sesshin throughout the year.

Shodo Harada Roshi leads sesshin in February, May, and September.

Daichi Roshi comes a few times a year for Kosesshin – dates are here.

  • Ko sesshin: have a longer morning work period and either rest or study in the afternoon.
  • Samu sesshin: have a longer morning work period and Teisho in the afternoon
  • O sesshin: have a short work period then zazen in the morning and Teisho in the afternoon
